Abstract

The Nogai people, who are Kipchak Turks, are still present in various parts of the world today. The name
“Nogai” initially emerged during the Golden Horde era and has since been used as a clan name. Due to their
nomadic lifestyle in the steppe regions, learning about the history of the Nogai people requires examining
the histories of the states they interacted with, including warfare, plunder, trade, and other similar
circumstances. It is known that the Nogai people lived a steppe-type nomadic life in the Deşt-i Kipçak region
before dispersing following significant political events, with some groups eventually migrating to Turkey. In
this article, we explore the history and culture of the Nogai Turks who migrated to Turkey and lived there
for many years. By conducting oral history research with the Nogai Turks in the provinces of Eskişehir and
Ankara, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of their culture.
